Joint venture partners Tishman Speyer and Commerz Real AG today laid the foundation stone for the ?TaunusTurm? office tower, which will be the latest addition to Frankfurt skyline. Located in the heart of Frankfurt?s banking district, the 40-story, 650,000 square-foot (60,000-square-meter) tower is scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2013.
In the presence of 350 invited guests, Petra Roth, Mayor of the City of Frankfurt, and architect Martin Gruber joined Jerry and Rob Speyer, Co-CEOs of Tishman Speyer, as well as Jochen Kl?sges, a member of the Commerzbank AG Board of Managing Directors, in lowering the copper foundation stone capsule through a Plexiglas tube into the 10-meter-deep construction pit.
For Tishman Speyer, TaunusTurm represents the third phase of what has proven to be an enormously successful development initiative in Frankfurt, preceded by the MesseTurm and OpernTurm projects.
To be located at the corner of Neue Mainzer Strasse/Taunustor and the ?Wallanlagen?, the park belt, TaunusTurm will be the first building on Neue Mainzer Strasse to have its 13-meter-high entrance facing the adjacent park. The slender tower with a white natural stone fa?ade, which was designed by the Frankfurt firm Gruber + Kleine-Kraneburg Architekten, is expected to be the first new high-rise in the city to be awarded LEED Platinum certification.
The construction of TaunusTurm will considerably upgrade the Wallanlagen ? the adjacent former city fortifications. Part of the plot of land will be used to extend them and make them accessible by means of a new promenade along the entire row of buildings. Amenities in the form of a restaurant for staff and guests, and a business club with conference space will enhance the property. Next to the TaunusTurm, Tishman Speyer is developing a residential tower, with an entrance aligned to the park, making it a prime address on Frankfurt?s unique park belt.
Petra Roth, Mayor of the City of Frankfurt, emphasized the entrepreneurial vision of Tishman Speyer and Commerz Real. TaunusTurm, she said, integrates a new urban space for work and life into the existing fabric of the city and gifts future residents, employees and guests a great deal quality of life: ?The entire development of the TaunusTurm project is infused with the notion of sustainability. It is precisely this which a center such as Frankfurt really needs: Investors who believe in the potential of the place.? Mayor Roth insists that such vision will spell a strong competitive edge: ?In keeping with the claim of ?Be Inspired? Street Toyota held its annual Awards Banquet at the Amarillo Club in downtown Amarillo, Texas on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 to celebrate a year of successful business and successful employees.
The awards banquet began at 6:30pm on the 30th floor of the Chase Tower where employees and guests were treated to drinks before the dinner. At 7:30pm dinner was served.
“It was a delicious dinner and a great opportunity to talk with the other employees,” Samantha Conner, Internet Marketing Manager said. “I’m glad I was able to visit with some of the salespeople and talk about the great year 2011 brought us.”
Tom Bittenbender, Interim President for Gulf States Toyota was the guest speaker for the night. He talked about the previous year and the future for Toyota. He congratulated Joe Street, owner of Street Toyota, and all the managers and the salespeople for everything they have done.
There were many awards presented throughout the night awarded to employees of Street Toyota.
General Manager Mike Good presented the Excellence Award to Scott Stoneham because he ?demonstrates the knowledge to do his job the way it should be done.?
Sales Manager Steven Christian presented the Teamwork Award to Ben Callaway for ?working well with others and for modeling unselfishness and positive team influence.?
Sales Manager Gus Shamir presented the Torch Award to Chris Campbell for ?always going above and beyond and staying in front of the pack when doing business.?
Presenting the Leadership Award was Rick McLey, Interactive 360, Inc. CEO; he gave the award to Greg Smith for ?demonstrating leadership propensity.?
General Sales Manager, Cory Dupriest presented the Rick Owens Inspiration Award to Gary McMillan for overcoming adverse circumstances during the year, however McMillan was unable to attend the ceremony. Dupriest also presented the Salesperson of the Year Award to David Saied for having the highest volume/gross for the year.
Ending the evening was Finance Director, Hamid Jalali who presented the F&I Excellence Award for being the best producer in the F&I Department to Jamie VanDeSpyker

McCullough, who spent his youth in and out of foster care and coped with years of emotional abuse, has turned his struggles into success. As a student of business administration at Saint Leo University, one of the top universities in central Florida, the 23-year-old is on his way to attaining the prize he most covets: a career as a motivational speaker helping youth achieve their dreams.
Rising Above Hardship to Help Others
While growing up in Lake County, Fla., McCullough was shuffled between seven or eight foster homes, adopted by an abusive pastor, and forced back into the foster system. In elementary school, he was sent to live with Otis and Mary Johnson, foster parents who gave him what he had always longed for?love and stability. Still deeply involved in his life, they encouraged McCullough to succeed academically, cheered him on in sports, and reminded him that he ended up in foster care through no fault of his own. Today, McCullough calls the Johnsons “Mom and Dad.”
In his one-minute video to Dr Pepper, McCullough explains that he advocates for youth in foster care ?who want normalcy and don’t have a voice of their own.? As president of his local Youth Advisory Board and a peer mentor with Kids Central, Inc., a Florida not-for-profit agency, McCullough is that voice. He listens to kids in foster care and those who ?age out? of the system, and takes their concerns to lobbyists in Tallahassee, Fla. He conducts speaking seminars and teaches life skills classes, showing kids how to cook, fill out job applications, and succeed independently. For his service to foster children in the community, FosterClub recognized McCullough as one of 100 Outstanding Young Leaders in 2010.
?I want every foster kid to have a chance like I had,? says McCullough. ?Talents are given to be used. If you allow somebody the opportunity, they will go out and use those talents for the better.?
McCullough has used his talents not only to excel as a college student and youth advocate, but also as a government intern in Washington D.C. Since 2009, he has interned during summer and winter breaks with the Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration, helping contribute to policy aimed at reducing the nuclear stockpile around the world.
Not Another Statistic: Striving to Succeed
According to FosterClub, many of the 29,000 young people who age out of foster care each year fall victim to homelessness, unemployment, incarceration or illness, and fewer than 3 percent graduate from college.
McCullough is the only one out of his biological and foster siblings to attend college. He graduated with an associate degree from Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Fla. and is working toward completing bachelor?s programs in business administration and political science at the Gainesville Center of Saint Leo University, one of oldest Catholic universities in central Florida. McCullough has great ambitions for life after his anticipated 2012 graduation: He hopes to start his own business, change government policies to improve the foster care system, and pursue his greatest passion?motivational speaking.
?I want teens and young people to realize they can be a success story if they put forth the effort and strive to succeed,? says McCullough.
That?s the predominant message he conveys in a book he finished writing in August. ?Almond Eyes: Inside the Lion?s Den? documents McCullough’s experiences in foster care, including how he coped with instability, found relief from the confines of the system and emerged a success. McCullough is currently seeking a literary agent to help him publish the book.
Latest Chapter in an Inspiring Story: Dr Pepper Scholarship Winner
When McCullough, who scans scholarship listings daily, learned of Dr Pepper?s Million Dollar Tuition Giveaway Contest, he wasted no time submitting a video to the soft drink company, making the case for why he deserves the tuition money.
Dr Pepper found McCullough?s story so compelling that they offered him $ 2,500 and a chance to compete in a national competition for a $ 100,000 scholarship at the nationally televised Big 10 Championship Game on Dec. 3, 2011. During the halftime face-off, McCullough threw nine footballs into a giant replica of a Dr Pepper can to place second, and win a $ 23,000 scholarship. McCullough plans to apply the scholarship toward his senior year studies at Saint Leo University.
