Rockville, MD (PRWEB) November 28, 2011

The Society for New Communications Research (SNCR) has awarded Goodwill Industries International with an Excellence in New Communications Award for its internal website, MyGoodwill, which has had more than 20,000 unique visitors so far this year. Professionals who work for the 165 local, independent Goodwill agencies in the United States and Canada use MyGoodwill to gain valuable information that increases their effectiveness at work and their agencies? ability to provide job training programs and career services to people in their communities. Staff at all levels of the Goodwill enterprise, as well as volunteers and local board members, can use the site to access a variety of resources and network with peers in their employment areas. MyGoodwill was honored in the Internal Communications Category in SNCR?s Nonprofit Division during the 6th Annual SNCR Symposium and Awards Gala, recently held at Harvard University?s Faculty Club.

?MyGoodwill enables Goodwill professionals to stay current on trends in their fields, exchange best practices with one another, and acquire new skills,? said Jim Gibbons, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries International. ?The easy-to-navigate intranet is built around communities of interest, and allows each Goodwill agency to become stronger, ready to help people access employment opportunities and support themselves and their families.?

Goodwill agencies have been using MyGoodwill since 1990. The internal website houses more than 21,000 documents and files, which are divided into communities to suit the various disciplines of staff, including workforce development, contracts and business development, donated goods retail, finance, marketing and communications, and others. In 2010, Goodwill began plans to redevelop the site to make it easier for professionals to find information and connect with one another. New features include allowing users to mark favorite communities, and a customizable dashboard so each user can configure his or her home page.

?We are honored to recognize Goodwill Industries International through this awards program,? said Paul Gillin, SNCR senior fellow and chair of the SNCR Excellence Awards committee. ?Goodwill?s success with MyGoodwill proves the importance of communications and technology in supporting a mission-based nonprofit organization.?

Since the redesign of MyGoodwill, weekly visits to the site have increased by more than 137 percent. Average page views rose from 1,600 a day in 2010 to 1,800 per day in 2011. Goodwill?s goal is to continuously improve MyGoodwill, and the organization looks to web analytics research and user satisfaction surveys to enhance the site?s relevance.

?The team at Goodwill Industries International has embraced technology to be more efficient and environmentally responsible in the way we exchange information with local Goodwill agencies,? said Gibbons. ?These technological advances helped Goodwill provide job training services to more than 2.4 million people in 2010.?

SNCR?s prestigious awards program honors individuals and organizations that are pioneering the use of social media and Internet communications technologies. In 2010, Goodwill received a SNCR award for its MyStory blog and podcast, through which participants who have received employment services from Goodwill to share their stories of success.

Missoula, Montana (PRWEB) November 23, 2011

Congratulations from Sun Mountain to the victorious 2011 U.S. Presidents Cup Team. As the ?Official Outerwear Provider for The Presidents Cup 2011 United States Team? Sun Mountain rain gear is proud to have been part of the effort.

November weather in host city Melbourne, Australia is known to be unpredictable and varied so the team outerwear included several different styles of Sun Mountain rain gear and wind wear. The players? outerwear for The Presidents Cup 2011 included: a full-zip rain jacket, long sleeve rain pullover, short sleeve rain pullover, rain pants, long sleeve wind pullover, short sleeve wind pullover and bucket hat. Caddies? outerwear included: long sleeve rain pullover, short sleeve rain pullover, long sleeve wind pullover and bucket hat. Players? significant others had options to include: full-zip rain jacket, rain pants, fleece jacket, thermal vest and bucket hat.

During The Presidents Cup 2011, the weather in Melbourne lived up to its reputation of having all four seasons in one week. Thursday?s temperatures were in the 80s with a brisk wind. Friday?s temperature neared 100 degrees and made fast greens even faster. Saturday?s steady rain and chilly temperatures in the 50s brought out a lot of Sun Mountain rain gear for players, caddies, team captains, tournament officials and players? significant others. Sunday started out chilly with most caddies wearing Sun Mountain wind jackets to begin the day.

?We are honored to have been chosen to outfit The Presidents Cup U.S. Team,? said Sun Mountain Founder Rick Reimers. Reimers continued, ?The hope is always that weather is not a factor but when it is, our goal is to reduce the weather?s impact on the golfer. We are proud of the way our pieces performed throughout the week, especially during Saturday?s rain.?

Sun Mountain worked with the U.S. Team to design custom outerwear that offered protection from wind and rain while remaining breathable, and stretching enough to allow a free golf swing. The resulting rain gear was based upon a new Sun Mountain line that is constructed from an advanced, new four-way stretch woven fabric with a fully waterproof/breathable laminate and durable water repellant finish.

The Presidents Cup, a team match-play competition featuring 24 of the world’s top golfers — 12 from the United States and 12 from around the world, excluding Europe — is held every two years, and has alternated between United States and international venues since 1994. The Presidents Cup was developed to give the world’s best non-European players an opportunity to compete in international team match-play competition. The Presidents Cup 2011 was held November 15-20 at The Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, pitting the U.S. Team, led by Fred Couples, against the International Team, captained by Greg Norman.

For 30 years Sun Mountain has been a pioneer in the golf industry, revolutionizing golf bags, golf outerwear and golf carts. Sun Mountain’s many innovations, including the first lightweight golf bag and modern stand bag, have made it the top golf bag company in North America. Within golf outerwear, Sun Mountain redefined golf-specific performance first with the windshirt, then fleece, and again with its four-way stretch, waterproof, and breathable rainwear. The Sun Mountain Speed Cart? golf push cart transformed walking carts and created an entirely new category of golf products. Sun Mountain’s “Ahead of Time Design” motto drives the company to continually design and refine golf equipment. Many have compared Landau?s smooth vocals and phrasing to that of Frank Sinatra, a singer he?s always admired. Landau, from Logan, W.V., won the coveted America?s Got Talent competition in September 2011. As part of the AGT prize, Landau realized a lifelong dream and headlined a show in Las Vegas.

This sudden rise to fame has been in keeping with Landau?s roller-coaster ride of a life. As a young man, he was once reduced to sleeping in his car; he worked at a car wash during the months leading up to his TV performances?and was down to his last pair of pants and jacket when he arrived to sing in the AGT auditions at Radio City Music Hall.

Tickets for Landau?s December 23 show at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort are available at moreatmountaineer.com, etix.com, or by calling the players club at 800-804-0468 Ext. 8297. Ticket prices are $ 10, $ 12, $ 15 and $ 20 by section.

Highly awarded wine maker, Taylors Wines, has a long term focus on quality, its people and innovation. Being innovators, Taylors prides itself in being a leader rather than a follower and was an early adopter of SalesAtWork as a cloud based sales platform, to manage and automate its field sales operations.

Taylors supplies a wide range of wines to approximately 11000 customers in retail liquor outlets, clubs, hotels, and restaurants, serviced by a team of 25 Area Sales Managers. Two years ago Taylors equipped its sales team with smartphones, powered by SalesAtWork, to replace its paper based system. SalesAtWork provided the operational tools to drive efficiency, quick response, improved customer service and enhanced sales effectiveness. Continuing its focus on quality, people and innovation, Taylors recently upgraded its field sales capability, rolling out SalesAtWork on iPads, to all area managers.

National Sales Manager, Derek Raney said ‘Taylors chose SalesAtWork, after assessing a number of vendors, because it is the most comprehensive, flexible and cost effective cloud based sales platform, coupled with cultural fit, which allowed us to be able to continuously improve our sales requirements with SalesAtWork. We see this as a big advantage of being able to reap the benefits of ongoing development without having to fund this continual customisation cycle.

SalesAtWork is responsible for the day to day operations of the system and therefore has a deep insight into our daily challenges and future needs. We now have an integrated and consistent sales process and workflow, and have also benefitted greatly from centralising and cleansing our sales data. This way we are able to focus on our core business, of making and selling top quality wines.’

Mr Raney said ‘the decision to upgrade to iPads was easy. The presentation size and quality of the iPad screen and easy user interface, makes system use by area managers intuitive and fast. This is a serious sales and productivity tool that has facilitated a shift in our sales culture. Area managers use it for customer objective setting, order processing, in store surveys, actions and notes. Ability to access documents and video has enabled elimination of a lot of printed material, such as trade flyers and tasting notes. Promotional compliance is also enhanced by product shelf display and ticketing photos. Quick response enables area managers to add a customer in the field, perform a visit and place an order, which previously used to take up to a week to get paper back and to activate a new customer.

I see many more long term sales improvements still to come from using SalesAtWork, based on our ability to focus, rank, plan and set objectives, by customer, execute efficiently in the field and view results by real time reporting.

About SalesAtWork

Based in Melbourne, Australia, SalesAtWork provides industry specific rapid deployment sales and CRM cloud computing based solutions, for organisations striving to be at the leading edge of best business practise, while avoiding the costly and drawn out traditional consultative process to get there. With its rapid delivery methodology, SalesAtWork customers have a full solution understanding, and operating knowledge, to enable them to derive business benefits within weeks, at a fraction of the cost of traditional implementations with similar functionality. Operating across iPhones, iPads, Android and Blackberry devices, SalesAtWork provides organisations with peace of mind, knowing they are using an industry application that is continuously evolving, to keep them at the forefront of their industry. With thousands of field users, SalesAtWork is in use by leading field marketing companies, industrial organisations, consumer goods companies, liquor organisations and in the route trade, across multiple countries.

Lori Wilde struck a chord in readers last year with THE FIRST LOVE COOKIE CLUB. Now, just in time for the holiday season, she is revisiting that home-baked goodness with three Avon Impulse novellas, ?The Christmas Cookie Chronicles.?

Wilde has built a strong contingent of fans with her series set in Twilight, TX. Last year, THE FIRST LOVE COOKIE CLUB hit the New York Times bestseller list and was featured in Time magazine. Publishers Weekly has called Wilde?s writing ?as satisfying as a glass of lemonade on a hot day.? Wilde fits right into the small town romance niche that beloved writers such as Kristin Hannah and Susan Wiggs have made so popular. And the three Christmas Cookie Chronicles will be tasty holiday treats for women?s fiction and romance readers.

THE CHRISTMAS COOKIE CHRONICLES: CARRIE features a woman who eloped at 18 with her high school sweetheart, Mark. After a whirlwind wedding in Vegas, the two return home to Twilight, where their parents force them into an annulment. Seven years later, the two lead very different lives, but when they?re thrown together because of Mark?s job, they just might have a second chance at love.

In THE CHRISTMAS COOKIE CHRONICLES: RAYLENE, Wilde doubles up the love stories. After her husband of thirty-five years leaves her for keeping a dark secret, a brokenhearted bar owner, hires a young woman who is down on her luck, only to discover the woman is the daughter that she sold at birth in order to give her husband his start. Can the Christmas season bring the redemption she so desperately seeks and reconnect her to the love of her life? Determined to confront the mother who gave her up 35 years ago, an embittered woman goes incognito as a cocktail waitress at her mother?s bar, only to meet a former Navy SEAL who teaches her the true meaning of Christmas–forgiveness.

A disabled former Olympic hopeful stars in the final novella in the trilogy, THE CHRISTMAS COOKIE CHRONICLES: CHRISTINE. Now a baker, Christine lives a quiet, lonely life until an old high school flame, Dallas, moves back to town. Dallas is now a widower with four children, the oldest of whom resents Christine?s rekindled relationship with her father. It will take all the matchmaking skills of The First Love Cookie Club members and a little Christmas magic for Christine to bridge the gap and touch the heart of the wounded teen who can?t stop grieving the loss of her mother.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) November 10, 2011

Americans from all walks of life will unite to honor active military, veterans and military families this Veterans Day?11/11/11. Seattle will host one of 11 large- scale service events in 11 major U.S. cities on Veterans Day. It?s all part of ServiceNation?s Mission Serve initiative which brings together the civilian and military communities through service and volunteerism. Americans who wish to volunteer in honor of those who have served in the military will also be able to log onto http://www.MissionServe.org to find other service projects in the region.

This year, the series of national projects will be highlighted by a high-profile social media component, led by prominent celebrities Dwayne Johnson and Miley Cyrus, who will mobilize their 50 million Twitter and Facebook followers to spread the word about the Mission Serve initiative and serve in support of active military, veterans, and military families.

On 11/11/11, join the Veterans Conservation Corps, the Sierra Club, Warrior Gateway and Service Nation for the second annual Veterans Day at Hamm Creek Estuary event. For the past two decades Hamm Creek has been transformed into a more natural setting, in addition it has been a focal point in veteran healing and transition. Today Hamm Creek is home to several species of wildlife including Beaver, Bald eagle, Osprey, and Salmon. Hamm Creek Estuary embodies the struggles veterans face in their transition into civilian life and the promise of a better tomorrow through hard work, perseverance and teamwork. Through this project we hope to build a stronger community, one blackberry and one volunteer at a time. Anyone is welcome to join us beginning at 10am, with work starting at 11am.

?Service has become a meeting place for veterans and civilians,? said Chris Marvin, a former Blackhawk helicopter pilot, who was wounded in Afghanistan. ?Both communities understand and embrace service, and as we welcome a growing population of veterans returning from combat, it is imperative that our communities engage them by challenging them to serve here at home. Our veterans are civic assets, not only because of the service they have given overseas, but also because of how they are willing to serve in our communities. We firmly believe that the integration of the military and civilian communities begins with shared service.? Marvin is currently director of Civilian-Military Partnerships for Service Nation.

Founded in 2009, Warrior Gateway connects individuals in the military community withorganizations and programs (non-profit, government, educational or employment-related) in their neighborhood that are there to support them. Warrior Gateway, and its G.I. Network program, harnesses state-of-the art technology and community collaboration to help today?s veterans make better decisions about what service providers they can go to for help, and have a public forum to share their experiences about the quality and effectiveness of those services. This innovation was recognized with a Federal Computer Week Fed-100 award for significant contributions to the Federal IT community in 2011.

“We are honored to partner with ServiceNation to support the 11/11/11 service projects in Seattle,” said Devin B. Holmes, CEO of Warrior Gateway. “We know that connecting military and civilian communities is an important part of the veterans’ reintegration process. Our mission at Warrior Gateway is to help the military community and their families connect with meaningful resources in their local communities; being involved with a signature initiative like this allows Warrior Gateway to create valuable connections for successful transitions.”

ServiceNation is proud to welcome Bank of America as the National Corporate Partner for this series of events.
